The Bichectomy or cheeks surgery is a small surgery used to enhance facial features. It creates the illusion of having a more slender and elongated face thereby improves the aesthetic appearance and structure of the face. This surgery is performed by making an incision inside the mouth, locate the pockets of fat in the cheeks (bichat bags) and then these carefully remove them.
The Bichectomy is a safe operation, performed under local anesthesia and the recovery is quick and not traumatic. The procedure is performed in an average time of 30-40 minutes and recovery is 3-5 days. The results are noticed as soon as the patient leaves surgery and are permanent. During the first days after the operation there is some swelling of the cheeks but minimal pain.
